The lightning whelk is commonly found in the NC innercoastal waterway, varying in size depending on age. The lightning whelk shell opens to the left, giving it a similar shape to the ring named after it.

Named after one of my favorite shells to find, the lettered olive is a species of large predatory sea snail with an elongated oval shell. Usually found still glossy and covered in beautiful patterns.

Jingle shells are a fun and beautiful shell found often in NC. A common bivalve, and like oysters, the lower shell is attached to a hard surface. The found shells are often very thin and fragile, but maintain their shine, and when stung or bunched together, they jingle.

This necklace is named after the keyhole dollar due to being delicate, yet eye-catching, making it perfect for everyday wear. Commonly found in the shallow sandy waters of the inlets, the keyhole sand dollar is illegal to take when still living, but finding a whole keyhole after it has passed is quite difficult, which makes it a prized collection item for beachcombers.

Six Small - Medium Teeth
This beautiful bracelet is named for the "mermaid's necklace," but of course, this is not a necklace. The term "mermaid's necklace" refers to commonly found whelk egg casings. The egg cases are often coiled like a snake or a vertebra; they can be seen on beaches or sandbars during certain times of the year.

Said to be the largest and possibly still undiscovered treasure on the North Carolina coast is that of the Spanish ship, the El Salvador. Thought to have sunk near Beaufort, NC, holding twenty chests of silver and gold after a hurricane blew the ship off course in the 1700s. This ring resembles the hand-hammered gold coins said to be still lost in the El Salvador shipwreck.

Although rare in North Carolina, the sundial shell can be found, especially after storms. The marine snails that carry these shells feed on corals and sea anemones. With their absolutely stunning patterns and the beautiful sun design of this ring, I couldn't think of a better shell to name it after.

The square pattern on the loggerhead sea turtle shell was why this name was chosen for this necklace. Between May 1st and August 31st, the nests of the beautiful Loggerhead sea turtle are a common beach occurrence in NC. These turtles have an unknown lifespan, but it's suggested to be 70 years or more. The female Turtles return to the same beach every year to lay their eggs.

These earrings get their name from the common baby's ear shell for their simplicity and daintyness. The common baby ear shell is a member of the moon shell family. Although they have a sweet name, like all members of the moon shell family, they are carnivorous. Common baby's ears are pure white and are only found in different colors due to prolonged exposure to debris and chemicals in the sand.

This bracelet gets its name from the rigid, textured shell and "keyhole" opening of the keyhole limpet. Commonly found under rocks, eating algae and other plant matter. The keyhole opening on their shell is used for respiration, where water comes in and passes over their gills.
